About this audiobook
The mega-talented creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away With Murder chronicles how saying YES for one year changed her life―and how it can change yours, too.
With three hit shows on television and three children at home, the uber-talented Shonda Rhimes had lots of good reasons to say NO when an unexpected invitation arrived. Hollywood party? No. Speaking engagement? No. Media appearances? No.
And there was the side benefit of saying No for an introvert like Shonda: nothing new to fear.
Then Shonda's sister laid down a challenge: just for one year, try to say YES to the unexpected invitations that come your way. Shonda reluctantly agreed―and the result was nothing short of transformative. In Year of Yes, Shonda Rhimes chronicles the powerful impact saying Yes had on every aspect of her life―and how we can all change our lives with one little word. Yes.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Turns out that I love TV writers talking about themselves. Mindy Kaling, now Shonda Rhimes...TV writers are my kind of people.
If you write for TV - assemble a memoir, narrate the audiobook, and just send it my way. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was so moved by this book I cannot even put it into words. As an avid fan of Grey's Anatomy, so many of the words I read and stories Shonda Rhimes was gracious enough to share put so many things into perspective for me. I loved it!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I originally thought audiobooks were odd. Mainly because I felt as though I wouldn't be able to give it my undivided attention. I sure was wrong. I finished the book in a day and I was sad it ended. I felt as though Ms. Rhimes and I were having a lovely conversation regarding life and how vital it is to embrace the "badassary" we each possess to catapult ourselves to the highest of heights where we're destined to be.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Truly a funny and uplifting story. Shonda Rhimes discusses what lead her to make the decision to say yes for a year. Her story sounds so much like my own that I too made the choice to not be afraid and do more for me. Rhimes story is truly an inspiration to someone struggling with finding that internal reason to step out their shell more. Her story was real and breaks down the walls of what we as women really truly worry about. I suggest this book to anyone. I enjoyed it more since I am a huge fan of her work and she's a true motivator of where life could take you with hardwork and dedication.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Yes, Yes Yes! I have a good feeling this book will change my life. Thank you Shonda! Can't wait to get started on my own yes journey!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Shonda Rhimes knows exactly how to tell a compelling story and hearing her story is well worth your time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A great book in which the author discusses her life, with all of its 'realness' and struggles. It is honest, insightful, and instructional. It is not easy to assess who you are and how you came to be a certain way, and then to remake yourself into a new you, however this author was able to recreate herself in one year by doing and being the opposite of her natural self. Thank you for sharing your journey with your fellow introverts who have not found our way to our new selves. We now know it is possible.
